Our Organization
We are proud to be Muskoka's Community Futures Development Corporation (CFDC). CFDCs support community economic development across Canada by assisting rural communities to strengthen and diversify their economies.
Incorporated in 1987, the Muskoka Futures operates throughout the Muskoka region as a community-based, not-for-profit organization partnering with the District of Muskoka, local municipalities, businesses, individuals and other community organizations to promote sustainable economic development.
Muskoka Futures' most valuable resource is our people. Our 15 member Board of Directors is comprised of volunteers from all over Muskoka collectively bringing with them diverse backgrounds in business and community economic development. Our staff are seasoned professionals who are committed to encouraging entrepreneurship and the pursuit of economic opportunities.
Our Mission
Our mission is to enable long-term employment and economic growth by providing:
- Professionally guided access to business information, counselling, mentoring and business financing for start-up, maintenance and expansion
- Facilitation services for community economic development
projects and activities taking place throughout the region
Industry Canada and the Federal Economic Development Initiative for Northern Ontario (FedNor), along with our community partners provide funding, advice and support for the Muskoka Community Futures Development Corporation.
